Should people ever have to pay to use public restrooms?

Earlier this month, the New York Post reported that the Bloomberg administration’s plan to install 20 public pay toilets across the five boroughs is gaining opposition. The first of these self-cleaning toilets was installed in 2008 in Madison Square Park, but the trend never picked up because people were just as happy to use free (albeit dirtier) restrooms in nearby restaurants and stores. But that may not be an option for long—earlier this week, Starbucks said it plans to close to the public restrooms at some of its NYC locations, an effort to curtail long lines that were cutting into employees’ break times.Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.
