City Council Speaker Christine Quinn is trying to oust Chick-fil-A from its only location in the city after the fast-food chain’s owner made anti-gay remarks and donated $2 million from the company to organizations fighting same-sex marriage. But a student council at Chick-fil-A’s local landlord, New York University, decided that booting it would chill freedom of expression. And Mayor Michael Bloomberg opposed banning the restaurant, saying, “You really don’t want to ask political beliefs or religious beliefs before you issue a permit.”
